Hello, Benson Elementary Family and Friends,
I am incredibly enthusiastic about being part of such an outstanding school and community. I had the privilege of joining the Bronco family as an assistant principal in November 2015 and was honored to be named principal in March 2016. It is remarkable to reflect on my 10 years at Benson Elementary. Once again, it is a true honor and privilege to serve as your principal.
My husband, Greg, and I are proud parents of two adult children and three grandchildren. I am a native of Wilson County and a proud Hunt High School graduate. In 1988, I earned an Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Wilson Technical Community College, followed by an undergraduate degree in Special Education from Shaw University in 1991. In 2000, I completed my graduate studies at North Carolina Central University, earning a master’s degree in special education with a concentration in behaviorally and emotionally disabled students.
Driven by a passion for learning and leadership, I returned to North Carolina Central University in 2011 to complete my second master’s degree in school administration. With 29 years of experience in education, I began my career at Cleveland Middle School, where I taught for 10 years in various capacities, including self-contained, resource, and inclusion settings. Additionally, I had the honor of serving as an assistant principal at Meadow School for three years.
My tenure at Benson Elementary has allowed me to collaborate with wonderful students, parents, staff, churches, and community members. As we embark on this new school year, I am excited about the opportunities we have to learn, grow, and achieve through a variety of academic and social-emotional strategies employed throughout our school. My priority is to ensure that all students at Benson Elementary experience a safe, secure, engaging, and challenging learning environment that prepares them for college, careers, and life.
