COVID-19 JCPS Superintendent Update

This is Ben Williams, Interim Superintendent for Johnston County Public Schools. I want to start by saying that I know the challenges of these past few days have been unlike what we have faced before.

During this time we have all been tested, and I am proud of what our Johnston County Public School family has been able to accomplish.

This week we opened 13 food sites and established 16 meal delivery locations across the county. This effort has helped us serve and deliver more than 8,500 meals to students.

Additionally, we have added an at home learning resource for families that can be accessed from the district homepage. This online location contains grade level resources parents can use immediately with their students for review and practice. Schools will be posting additional teacher-created supplemental instructional activities next Thursday for use starting March 30th, if closures are extended. As more information is received, we will communicate other learning formats and opportunities in the days to come.

We have also had more than 430 people to volunteer support and offer donations. I am humbled by the generosity shown by so many of our citizens. I know we all will continue to pull together as a community in the days ahead.
