Character education is a priority in Johnston County Public Schools and this year, we are highlighting both character education and the district's portrait of a graduate, and how those two pieces work together. The portrait of a graduate trait for October is growth mindset and growth mindset is working through challenges, showing perseverance, resilience, and self-advocacy.
Kaylea Keyes is at 8th grader here at Archer Lodge, and she fits right up with all of the folks who we would recognize with having a growth mindset such as Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey and even Walt Disney. She is a caring leader that relates to all people. She listens attentively and leads by example. She is mature beyond her years and has a keen eye for seeing things that need to be done before others do. She's the type of leader that speaks first to a new student in school and helps to comfort them.
Kaylea faces all of her tasks head-on and gets them taken care of. She works diligently throughout the year and has participated and competed in North Carolina State's FBLA competition. She successfully earned first place in public speaking in the 2019 State of North Carolina FBLA Leadership Conference.
Kaylea never stops achieving her goals whether it's in the classroom, the ball court, the soccer field. She knows and exhibits the quality of hard work and dedication and all that is needed to develop her brain and her talent. She is a true inspiration and honored by Archer Lodge to be able to see her grow into such a bright, respectful, lovely young lady.
