On October 31, 2018, West Smithfield Elementary Pre-K classes went to Sonlight Farms in Kenly, North Carolina to learn about different fall crops and pumpkins. This field trip was also an opportunity for them to work on social skills outside of the classroom as well as explore a different part of our community. At Sonlight Farms they learned about the different uses of soybeans and explored soybean plants, learned about cotton and its uses, went on a hayride and learned about tractors. Students also explored feed corn in the corn bin. They also enjoyed working together as a class to race the "tractors" and ended the field trip with a picnic lunch with their families.
