Taylor Fipps named as a 2019 North Carolina Teaching Fellow

Taylor Fipps has been named as a 2019 North Carolina Teaching Fellow by the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Commission.  She will receive $4,125, per semester, for four years to attend Meredith College and is planning to major in Special Education and Art Education.

The purpose of the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program is, "to recruit, prepare, and support students residing in or attending institutions of higher education located in North Carolina to become highly effective STEM or special education teachers in the State’s public schools."  The North Carolina Teaching Commission selected 133 individuals for the 2019 class of North Carolina Teaching Fellows.  The Commission received over 200 applications, and they used GPA, standardized test scores, leadership and experience, and written essays to narrow this pool of applicants down to roughly 150 finalists. The commission determined the list of Fellows after conducting in-person interviews with each finalist, which were held at six different locations around the state or by phone.
