This is Mrs. Barnes of West Clayton Elementary with important information about practices and procedures in regards to COVID-19.
In response to the increased number of positive COVID-19 cases which could be deemed a cluster on our campus, and out of an abundance of caution, we would like to share with you the following information.
The North Carolina Department of Public Health determines a cluster in a non-congregate living setting to be:
- A minimum of five laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 within 14 days with evidence of epidemiologic linkage between cases, OR - 15 or more laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 within 14 days associated with the same setting or facility in the absence of specific information about epidemiologic linkage
To help mitigate the spread of Covid-19 while a cluster of cases exist, the local Health Department recommends that all students, staff, and visitors wear face coverings while indoors and less than 6ft away from others. Cluster status is considered a high or substantial level of transmission within a facility.
Please be reminded that these recommendations are not mandatory and are provided for those who choose to participate.
We share guidance from health officials in an attempt to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, as it is our goal to keep our students, staff, and community members safe while in our school.
