Walk to School Day - Wednesday May 3, 2023

On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, South Smithfield Elementary School will be participating in our annual “Walk to School Day”event.   The purpose of this special day is to promote pedestrian safety and healthy living.  In conjunction with Safe Routes to Schools, we have organized an exciting morning to celebrate this day.  Beginning at 8:15 am, students will be part of a supervised walk starting at Wellons Civitan Park and will make their way down Crescent Street and around the block until we reach the front of our school on Sanders Street.  

We have invited District and Town leaders, businesses, community members as well as other schools to join us as we “Walk to School''.  . At the end of our walk this year, we will gather in a "send off" for our students who will be leaving that morning to participate in the Special Olympics at SSS.
