SSS Holds a CTE Career Fair

On Thursday morning, February 28, 2019, Smithfield-Selma High School (SSS) hosted the Johnston County Public Schools (JCPS) students' 2019 Career Fair organized by the Career Development Coordinators at each high school and sponsored by the Career and Technical Education Department of JCPS.  The fair was held from 8:45 - 11:00 and approximately 400 students were in attendance from the high schools within the JCPS system.

Approximately 50 vendors attended that represented military branches, emergency services, medical facilities, automotive industries, employment agencies, technical companies, educational organizations, and other trades.

Some companies were identified as hiring and gave students an opportunity to either apply on location or submit a resume.  Companies also spoke with teachers and students about possible internships.

Mr. Brad Holda (@holdabrad) from Charlotte, North Carolina, spoke with students about their digital footprint, using time wisely, and making smart choices.


Ms. Cindy Allen, the Career Development Coordinator at SSS, said, "Events such as this district-wide career fair are a great opportunity for our young adults to broaden their horizons by learning about the many different options that are available to them for their future careers."
