Ms. Beverly Barnes Harper is the Veterans of Foreign War 2021 Middle School Teacher of the Year for Post 5886 in Smithfield, NC. Ms. Harper served in a variety of fields including the military, aircraft maintenance, and volunteer firefighting, and she takes pride in sharing her unique experiences with her students in her math and science classrooms. Ms. Harper helps her students understand that they can achieve any goal through determination, discipline, and perseverance. She has provided students at Smithfield Middle the opportunity to explore interests in robotics, science, and computer programming. Smithfield Middle values all that Ms. Harper does to support her families, and she is an asset to our community.
