ACCESS Testing for English Language Learners
January 2023
Dear Parent/Guardian:
North Carolina schools are required to administer ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 to all students identified as English Learners (ELs) in the spring of each year to determine their progress in learning English. Each student is tested in four areas: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. This assessment helps us monitor their English language development.
The state window for our annual ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 is January 23rd through March 10th, 2023. Your child will be tested between January 23th and March 3rd.
As a parent/guardian you have the right to request and be provided with information regarding any state or local educational agency policy regarding student participation in any assessments mandated by the state or Johnston County Public Schools. As soon as we receive your child’s results, you will receive a report with information about the scores.
Please call your school’s ESL teacher if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for allowing us the privilege of working with your child.
