Third graders at Selma Elementary School hosted a LIVE wax museum showcasing various historical figures. After researching important people in history, the students created display board highlighting interesting facts and information related to their particular figure. On the day of their presentations, students also dressed up and posed as wax figures of these individuals in their classrooms and along the hallways. As visitors perused the museum, they were able to press a button, also designed by the students, or pay a fee, using play money, at each display board which then activated the “live wax figure." The live wax figures were the students, who then delivered information they had learned about their person through their research. Families, school staff, and even other grade levels were thrilled to visit museum and learn about such figures as Dorothea Dix, Herman Lay, Elizabeth Dole, Sugar Ray Leonard, Michael Jordan and Nicholas Sparks.
