FOMS teacher receives Governor’s Educator Discovery Award

Four Oaks Middle School teacher Tori Gwaltney received the Governor’s Educator Discovery Award for the 2019-2020 school year.
The award honors teachers who implement work-based activities in the classroom to enance student learning. Gwaltney was one of 12 teachers in the state to receive the award, and was the only agriculture education teacher to receive the award.
The award provides a stipend of up to $1,000 for teachers to pursue a professional development experience of their choosing.
Gwaltney said plans on using the money to pay for the National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference in Salt Lake City, UT in June, 2020. At the conference she will learn more about implementing agriculture in the classroom and in the lives of her students.
