Recently, students in 8th grade Social Studies classes had their annual Social Studies Fair, where they displayed projects on topics dealing with some aspect of North Carolina history, culture, places, events, legends, and people. Topics ranged from sports figures such as Michael Jordan, to the mystery of the "Lost Colony", to NC barbecue, to lesser known individuals such as Sarah Keys, whose refusal to give up her seat due to segregation rules, predated Rosa Parks by three years. Students were expected to have some interactive aspect to their display, which helped create a wonderful, informative, and fun experience for visitors. The 8th grade Social Studies team is thankful to all the students, parents, faculty, judges, and administration who helped make this year's Social Studies Fair such a success.
