8th grade Social Studies students at Riverwood Middle were treated to an informative talk and reenactment of Revolutionary War era medicine. Students were instructed on the various common ailments of the time and the often ineffective treatments used back then. Students were also told about the various tools used by surgeons, and their uses, along with a discussion about how far modern day medicine has advanced. Lastly, students got to view an amputation demonstration. Pictured here is Mr. Doug Pawlak performing an "amputation" on a student volunteer.
