Good Evening Ravens! This is Sharon Bryant, Principal of Riverwood Middle School with a few important announcements:
Parents of students who walk to school, please speak with your son/daughter(s) about the importance of ensuring that we are keeping our community a safe place. Over the past few weeks, there have been incidents involving some of our walkers leaving campus and being involved in behaviors that do not represent who we are as a school or community. I encourage you to speak with your child in regards to this urgent matter. Unless your child lives within the community that deems them a walker, they are not allowed to leave school and walk home with a friend. Please know that our local law enforcement has made us aware of the behaviors in hopes this message will give parents the opportunity to speak with their children about the expected expectations of abiding by the law while out in the community. I am confident that these events will cease immediately. Although, these behaviors are not occurring daily or by a large number of our students, it is our responsibility as a school to partner with our community to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
Our Volleyball and Soccer teams have home games tomorrow. Any student staying to the game must be picked up immediately after the game is over. In addition, if your child is a walker, he/she will not be allowed to leave the game early unless they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Thanks for your attention to the announcement I have shared with you this evening!
