MAP Testing Beginning Tomorrow

Greetings, Riverwood Middle Families!

This is Sharon Bryant, Principal of Riverwood Middle School, with some important information for our Raven families.

Our students are doing an excellent job with online learning! Please continue to support them in this endeavor and feel free to reach out to our Riverwood Middle staff if you have any questions or concerns. Our goal is to assist in any way possible!

Tomorrow, our students will participate in the beginning of the year MAP assessments. All Riverwood Middle students will have to take the MAP assessments. Students were notified by their homeroom teacher if they should plan to test on Thursday, September 10 or on Friday, September 11 at 8:45am for ELA MAP testing. Once students have completed testing each day they should utilize the remainder of the day to study, and complete any makeup assignments. Students testing are not required to complete asynchronous learning on test day. Students not testing each day should log in and complete their asynchronous learning that can be located in google classroom. Another connect ed message will come out next week to remind you about MAP Math testing.

MAP assessments help our staff know information about our student’s skills that will help them master the standards in their classes. All students will need to be visible during the testing session and will take their tests with a staff member during the session. Links to the sessions will be provided to the students prior to testing in their homeroom teacher's google classroom. Teachers in all classes have explained the process of testing with students, and please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions. Thank you for assistance with communicating this important information to your child as all students need to give their best effort.

In addition, student attendance each day is critical to academic achievement. Please ensure that your student is attending school each day and that they are arriving on time to all live classes. The teachers are planning enriching lessons for our students during live sessions, and they are able to assist all students if they need support. Also, it is very important that students behave appropriately when in live class sessions, and please understand that the Code of Conduct is still enforced even in virtual settings. Appropriate behavior is critical to the teaching and learning environment so that we can assure that all students are able to reach their full potential and master the content presented to them.

If you have any questions regarding your students individual performance in classes, please reach out to your child’s teacher. Grades are updated weekly in Parent Portal, and you should be able to view your child’s progress in all classes. Our staff will provide at least one grade per week and are regularly providing feedback to all students.

Also, free breakfast and lunch meals are being provided at Riverwood Elementary from 11:00-12:00 Monday through Friday. The free meals will be distributed through the bus parking lot entrance. We hope all of our families take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!

As always, please visit our school website or contact the front office if you have any questions or concerns. We are more than willing to assist in any way possible. We look forward to another wonderful week at Riverwood Middle!
