Fourth Grader acts as Principal for a Day

In December a lucky fourth grader was able to shadow River Dell Elementary Principal for a whole day.

Matthew Briggerman in Mrs. Welch’s fourth grade class had the highest bid at the RDE Fall Festival for the prize of being principal for the day.

During the day Briggerman shadowed RDE principal Chad Jewett for the day. During the day he made phone calls, visited classrooms, organized lost and found and helped clean the cafeteria.

“Going to every classroom was my favorite part,” Briggerman said. “I liked seeing all the students and what they were learning about.”

Briggerman said it was  a busy job and the hardest part of the day was organizing the lost and found and looking to see if there were any names in the items.

“We were very excited to have Matthew serve as the principal for the day right before our Christmas break,” Jewett said. “He did an excellent job and represented River Dell well.”

Principal for a day, along with other prizes are offered at our fall festival during the silent auction.
