In February, students, staff, and visitors noticed right triangles strategically placed in various locations throughout school. Triangles were seen on the floor, windows, lockers, benches, and doorways. The reason was a hands-on, math scavenger hunt, coinciding with lessons on the Pythagorean Theorem, or a² +b² = c². Students hunted for the triangles, where they experienced the fact that the Pythagorean Theorem can be seen and applied in many different locales. Each triangle had a corresponding equation that was solved by the students upon finding the right triangles. This initiative was spearheaded by 8th-grade math teacher, Mrs. Hughes.
