Girl Scout Teaches Our First Graders ASL

West Johnston High School student, Katelyn Overcash, spend the last few weeks of school teaching Mrs. Harvison's first graders a few American sign language basics. Katelyn was working on her Gold Award project through her Girl Scout troop. The Girl Scout Gold Award is the most prestigious and most difficult award in the world to earn for girl scouts. Her project focused on bringing awareness to younger children about the hearing impared and how to communiate with those who have trouble hearing spoken words. Our 1st grade Dragonflies absolutely LOVED working with Katelyn and are still showing off their new skills both in and outside of school. To learn more about Katelyn's project, visit her website HERE.
