Corinth Winds Win Big at WGI World Championships
The Corinth Holders High School Winds group was named the 2022 WGI Scholastic A Class Champions at World Championships in Dayton, Ohio on Sunday, April 24th, 2022. This was the icing on the cake after a very successful winter season where the Winds group remained undefeated in AIA, CWEA and WGI.
The Corinth Holders Winds group is made up of 38 students from all throughout the band program, spanning all grades as well skill levels. The season began in November with rehearsals establishing technique, basics and musicianship. Throughout the season the students were challenged musically and visually to create an entertaining, fun and enjoyable show, "A Winter's Daydream".
Under the direction of Mr. Nicholas Vernon and Mr. Joey Montes, the students have truly thrived as musicians, performers and individuals. This is the first time the Corinth Holders Winds have completed an entire season and attended World Championships. Their success this season has been a product of their hard work and determination. The Winds activity is relatively new to the WGI scene, having been launched in 2015.
The students and staff of the Corinth Holders High School Performance Ensembles are very excited for the future of the Winds program. The students are smart, talented and hard working and will take the entire program to the next level!
