Every Student Succeeds Act Parent Notification Letter

Dear Parent:

We are excited about the wonderful beginning we have had thus far working with your child. We hope your student has had a positive start to the new school year. We are also proud of our staff and the guidance they provide each and every day for our students.

As a parent of a student at Cooper Academy you have the right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teachers who instruct your child. Federal law allows you to ask for certain information about your child’s classroom teachers, and requires us to give you this information in a timely manner if you ask for it. Specifically, you have the right to ask for the following information about each of your child’s classroom teachers:

Whether North Carolina Department of Public Instruction has licensed or qualified the teacher for the grades and subjects he or she teaches.
Whether North Carolina Department of Public Instruction has decided that the teacher can teach in a classroom without being licensed or qualified under state regulations because of special circumstances.
Whether any teachers’ assistants or similar paraprofessionals provide services to your child and, if they do, their qualifications.

If you would like to receive this information, please notify your principal in writing with a signed letter or you may ask for a request form from your school. Be sure to indicate your student’s name, the name of the teacher or teachers that work with your student that you wish to receive information about, and what information you are requesting. The principal will forward any requests received to the Human Resources Department for response.

Estamos contentos acerca del maravilloso comienzo escolar que hemos tenido este año. Esperamos que su niño(a) haya tenido un comienzo positivo en el nuevo año escolar. También nos sentimos orgullosos de nuestro personal y la guía que ellos proporcionan cada y todos los días a nuestros estudiantes.

Como padre de un estudiante en la escuela Cooper Academy usted tiene el derecho de saber las capacidades profesionales de los maestros en las clases que instruyen a su niño(a). La ley federal permite que usted pida cierta información acerca de los maestros en las clases de sus hijos y nos requiere darle esta información de una manera oportuna si usted lo pide. Específicamente, usted tiene el derecho de pedir la siguiente información acerca de cada uno de los maestros en las clases de su niño(a):

Si el Departamento de Instrucción Pública de Carolina del Norte ha otorgado permiso o ha calificado al maestro para los grados y materias que él o ella enseñan.
Si el Departamento de Instrucción Pública de Carolina del Norte ha decidido que el maestro puede enseñar en una clase sin tener su licenciatura o sin ser capacitado bajo regulaciones del estado a causa de circunstancias especiales.
Si algún ayudante de maestro o paraprofesional similar le proporcionan servicios a su niño(a) y si lo hace, sus capacidades.

Si usted desea recibir esta información, por favor notifique a su director por escrito con una carta firmada o pase por la oficina y firme una forma de solicitud. Asegúrese de indicar el nombre de su hijo(a), el nombre del maestro o los maestros que trabajan con su niño(a) del cual usted desea recibir información y la información que usted solicita. El director mandará cualquier solicitud recibida al Departamento de Recursos Humanos para la respuesta.
