JCPS high schools will host “modified” traditional graduation ceremonies between Wednesday, July 29, 2020 - Saturday, August 1, 2020. Schools will communicate about specific graduation dates and ceremony times as we get closer to see what restrictions may limit our attendance participation.
The ceremonies will be held on school campuses and will follow all guidance from state and local health officials. Although these modified ceremonies may have to look somewhat different than traditional graduations, which may include limiting guests and holding multiple ceremonies, we are committed to students walking across a stage to receive their diplomas.
All schools will have an additional way for guests who may not be able to attend to view the graduation ceremonies via livestream or through other media platforms.
If social distancing and other federal precautions are still in place so that this plan is not possible, we will revert to a Drive-Through/In Graduation on the same dates. This was the second most popular choice based on the stakeholder survey.
We would like to thank the graduation workforce committee, which included local health officials, law enforcement, district administrators, school administrators, teachers, graduation coordinators, student leaders and more than 3,482 parents and students who submitted the stakeholder survey.
Thank you all for sharing your voice on how best to honor the Class of 2020.
