Cleveland High Tri-M Chapter Holds First Induction
Cleveland High School's Director of Choral Activities, Mr. Cordara Harper has chartered and will serve as the advisor of our inaugural Tri-M Music Honor Society. The Tri-M® Music Honor Society is a program of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), with a focus on creating future leaders in music education and music advocacy.
Tri-M® is the only music honor society for junior/middle school and high school students in the country, recognizing students who have gone above and beyond in their academics and music. Tri-M® also provides student leadership opportunities to serve through music-based service projects in their community. A Tri-M® chapter gives students opportunities to perform, lead, and serve. The performances teach respect, commitment, creativity, and other valuable skills students can benefit from in high school and beyond.
Cleveland High Students must have been enrolled in a music class for at least one semester, a minimum of a overall 3.0 gpa and achieved an A in music courses, exhibit leadership, service, character, and academic achievement to be eligible for membership. Interested students were required to fill out an application.
Cleveland High School’s first Tri-M® Music Honor Society Induction Ceremony (virtual) was held on February 24th, 2021 at 4pm. The induction, led by Mr. Harper, featured keynote speaker Dr. Josef Hanson, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of Music Education at the University of Memphis, as well as student performances with introductions by Chapter President Storm Adams.
