Surasya Guduru is a semifinalist in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program
Congratulations to CHS Senior Surasya Guduru who is a semifinalist in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program.
About 16,000 semifinalists in total were chosen based on their scores in last year’s Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, taken by about 1.6 million high school juniors. The semifinalists get the chance to compete for about 7,500 National Merit Scholarships that will be offered next spring.
To become finalists, the semifinalists must submit a scholarship application that includes a strong academic record and an account of their participation in school and community activities, leadership abilities, employment and any honors or awards.
About 90 percent of the semifinalists are expected to be named finalists, and about half of the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship.
