- Clayton High
Weekly Update September 6th - 9th
Thank you for all of your cooperation last week as we have settled into the school year. This week, we will be following a similar schedule as last week in order to have the required advisory period. The lunch periods will stay the same as they were last week - all students are reminded to claim their COMET Time accounts this week. Also, no students are authorized to leave during their lunch period unless they are a junior/senior leaving with early release 4th block.
Next, there are several announcements for seniors -- I will be sending a separate communication this evening for seniors and senior parents.
On Tuesday, we will be holding our Fall Open House from 6:00 - 7:30 PM. The event will begin with everyone reporting to the Adams Gym at 6:00 for the annual PTSA meeting and to receive instructions on the event. The campus will then be open for parents to meet with teachers following their student’s block schedule.
The CHS Club Fair will be held during the school day on Thursday. All students are encouraged to be a part of the over 20 clubs offered at CHS.
The Clayton Performing Arts program will hold auditions for the fall play this week on Wednesday through Friday. Anyone interested in being a part of the production should inquire with Mr. Wade, Ms. Meigs, or Ms. Sullivan this week.
Students who are interested in serving as a class or SGA officer for this year are encouraged to apply for a position. The applications will be sent via student email and are due to be turned in by Friday, September 9th. Students from all grades are encouraged to apply, voting will take place on Thursday, September 15th.
A couple of other reminders:
Students parking on campus must have purchased a parking pass this year. This pass must be displayed on your vehicle and the vehicle must be parked in a designated student parking lot. The parking lot will be monitored this week and vehicles found without a valid parking pass will be ticketed and could be towed at the owner’s expense. If a student needs a replacement pass, please see Mr. Wood. Also, the construction in the soccer lot has concluded so students may begin parking in the soccer lot this week.
Students should be in class by the tardy bell for each block. Students will begin receiving consequences for excessive tardiness so each student should be on time for each class. If a student is absent from a block, excused notes can be turned in at the front office or emailed to our registrar Lynn Rodgers.
Finally, as you may be aware, there have been cases across the state of violence on school grounds. We will not tolerate confrontations and disruptions on our campus. Please know that students are responsible for their actions and behaviors. Students are expected to follow directives of adults and to abide by the guidelines outlined in the JCPS Code of Student Conduct.
We look forward to another great week in Comet Country - thank you for continued support and for being COMETS ALL IN.
