CHS Weekly Update for March 28th - April 1st

First, I would like to congratulate the cast and crew of the CHS Performing Arts presentation of Chicago. The shows were tremendous and I would like to thank the directors and CPAC members for all of their hard work. Thank you to the students, faculty, and parents who attended the shows, what a great celebration of the arts programs at CHS!

This week Monday - Wednesday we will operate on our regular bell schedule, Thursday we will be on the 3rd block club schedule and Friday will be on the 4th block club schedule.

Senior parents are reminded of the senior parent meeting which will be held on Monday night at 6:30 PM in the CHS cafeteria. This meeting will focus on upcoming senior activities and provide important graduation information. A link will be shared with seniors to view the meeting if they cannot attend in person.

Juniors and seniors, tickets for the 2022 prom are on sale this week and they will close on Friday! Ticket purchase information was sent to junior and seniors in an email last week. Each junior and senior is allowed to purchase one additional ticket for a guest. The guest can be a CHS student, or another person age 20 or under. Any non-CHS guest will be required to bring a photo ID to prom. Tickets are $50 each and again close on Friday, April 1st. The CHS 2022 Prom will be April 22nd at the Crabtree Marriott in Raleigh from 7-11 PM with a theme of "Light the Night! Let's GLOW Crazy!"

Next, Thursday, March 31st, the CHS PTSA is hosting a spirit night at McDonald’s across from the school from 5:00 - 8:00 PM. All money raised goes directly back to our students and staff, so please plan on stopping by and picking up some food on Thursday and helping our fantastic PTSA!

Evening Academy continues this week Monday through Thursday from 2:30 - 5:30. Students must sign up beforehand to attend and can sign up a week in advance. Information can be found in student emails, on our website, and on flyers posted throughout the school.

Those who ride the bus are encouraged to check the bus website daily for information regarding delays in the morning. Afternoon delays are generally announced around 12 PM each day.

Finally, we are down to just 6 weeks remaining in the semester before exams begin. Please encourage your student to work hard in all of his or her classes to finish the semester in strong fashion. I encourage all students and parents to monitor student performance in PowerSchool and to work directly with teachers if you have any questions or concerns. For those in EOC courses Biology, Math 1 and Math 3, and English 2, student incentives are in place for those meeting benchmark growth and standards in their testing sessions next week so please encourage your student to do their very best in these important state-tested courses.
