This is Bennett Jones, principal of Clayton High School with the CHS Weekly Update for January 10th - 14th.
Monday through Wednesday of this week we will operate on our regular bell schedule. Thursday will be 1st block clubs and Friday will be 2nd block club schedule.
For tomorrow, one important bus note has been sent this evening by transportation services. Bus 68 does not have a driver tomorrow morning. The route for bus 68 will be ran by bus 653 and it will be over 2 hours late. Students who ride bus 68 normally are encouraged to find alternate transportation to school tomorrow if possible. We apologize for this inconvenience due to the shortage of bus drivers.
Final grades for the 1st semester will be available in the parent portal tomorrow. Students who were unsuccessful in a course in the fall are encouraged to check their email about the credit recovery camp running after school until January 27th. Students must register for the credit recovery camp to take advantage of the opportunity to recover a missing credit in one or more classes. Evening Academy for help in 2nd semester classes will begin on January 31st.
Seniors, tickets for the 2022 Senior Ball which will be held on Saturday, January 22nd will go on sale beginning tomorrow. Information will be sent to senior emails regarding the guidelines and purchasing information. Any senior parents who are interested in helping to donate to the event can contact the school’s office.
As we know the number of Covid cases has dramatically increased. If your student is sick, tests positive, or is identified as a close contact please do not send them to school. Students will be marked absent however, after communication and verification will have the absence either marked as excused or coded as a quarantine. Please be reminded that all students, staff, and visitors must wear a mask correctly while indoors on school grounds. Finally, please be aware that we also have several staff members who are absent. I ask that you please be patient as we begin this semester and know that we will utilize various communication methods and digital learning platforms for students to work in their classes.
