CHS Weekly Update - 10/31/21
First, I would like to congratulate our CHS band for a very successful marching band season and for representing our school at the Harvest Festival opening last week. Great job and thank you to everyone associated with the CHS band program! I also want to take a moment to announce that tickets are on sale for the upcoming CPAC play “Rumors” which will run Thursday, November 18th - Saturday, November 20th. Tickets are available online through the CHS Performing Arts Club website and social media platforms.
This week we will have our normal schedule on Monday through Wednesday with 5th block clubs meeting on Thursday. On Friday, we will run our 3rd block club schedule and all students will spend that time reviewing their 2nd semester schedule and completing drop/add requests for Spring 2022. Please refer to the normal daily schedule and club schedules that are linked for daily information. Also, please take note of the action of the JCPS Board of Education where they designated November 12th, 22nd, and 23rd as student holidays.
This week also begins tryouts for winter sports of basketball, wrestling, swimming, and winter track and field. Please see information on our athletics website and social media platforms for tryout times and required forms for students interested in playing on one of the teams this winter.
On Tuesday, the CHS College Fair will take place. Seniors that sign up to attend will go from 10:00 - 10:30 and Juniors that sign up will be able to attend from 10:30 - 11:00. Information regarding the College Fair was sent to student emails.
Next, as part of JCPS Covid protocols, students that are deemed as a close contact may now choose to take part in a “Test to Stay” study. This is optional for those that are identified as a close contact to continue to come to school versus being quarantined. As a reminder, any student who is symptomatic or tests positive for Covid should stay home until the date outlined by the Health Department and symptoms have cleared. If you have questions, please contact the CHS front office.
As a reminder, Evening Academy is available Monday - Thursday each week for additional assistance for students. Evening Academy has its own website which can be found linked to the main CHS webpage. Remember, students must sign up daily in order to attend Evening Academy and students can plan ahead and sign up two weeks in advance.
Finally, students did a much better job of being in class on time. Please continue to encourage your student to be prompt and on time each day to maximize their learning opportunities. We have 23 school days remaining until exams begin and we want each of our students to take advantage of their classroom learning activities. This also means that we will not tolerate disruptive behavior that interferes with a positive learning environment for our students.
