Weekly Update for October 18th - 22nd, 2021
A reminder that tomorrow, Monday, October 19th is a designated teacher workday.
On Tuesday, we will have Advisory from 7:15 - 11:15 for all students. All 10th grade students will be taking the state-mandated PreACT test in the 600 building classrooms. All other grade levels will be in their Advisory locations during this time and will work on their college and career development plans, 4-year graduation plans, college applications for seniors, and ACT prep for juniors. After the test ends, all students will report to 4th and 5th blocks on our normal schedule.
Students who requested attendance waivers will be notified if their waiver was not approved. Remember that students must have made up all the work in their courses as well to ensure that their numeric grade accurately reflects their performance in each of their courses.
Next, Evening Academy has been a tremendous success for the first quarter. As we begin the second quarter procedural changes have been made to ensure Evening Academy runs smoothly. Evening Academy has its own website which can be found linked to the main CHS webpage. Students must sign up daily in order to attend Evening Academy, this is a change from the first quarter. At this time students can plan ahead and sign up two weeks in advance. If your student requires transportation, be sure to have them fill out the 'Transportation Request Form' found on the Evening Academy website. The staff at Evening Academy is looking forward to another successful quarter helping students reach their academic goals.
Finally, report cards will be distributed on Monday, October 25th. Parents are encouraged to keep up with student progress via the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Students who have encountered academic and attendance difficulties are being identified by our MTSS team who will develop improvement plans for each student who is currently at-risk of not being successful this semester. Parents, please feel free to reach out to your student’s teachers or counselor if you have any concerns.
Thank you for your continued support and for being Comets ALL In.
