Weekly Update October 11th - 15th, 2021.

this is Bennett Jones, principal of Clayton High School with the weekly update for October 11th - 15th, 2021.

First, a tremendous thank you to all of our SGA for an awesome Homecoming week full of celebrations. The parade and Powderpuff games were huge successes and we capped off a great week with a great celebration of our Homecoming court on Friday evening along with a Comets win on the field. Thank you to all of the students and faculty members who took part in the fun and traditions of CHS homecoming week.

This week is the last week of the first quarter. We will again run our club and intervention schedule each day this week so that students can have additional time in each of their classes throughout the week to get all of their work completed. Students should address any concerns or questions directly to their teachers. As a reminder, the Evening Academy is open Monday - Thursday from 2:30 - 5:30 for students to make up work, receive additional teacher support, and to make up excessive absences.

Students who have missed more than 4 days in any of their classes must request an attendance waiver in order to receive their numerical grade for their course for the quarter. Attendance waivers information and the waiver form are all online and must be requested by the end of the day on Thursday, October 14th. Students must be signed into their JCPS accounts to complete the waiver. Medical and parent documentation for absences must be submitted to the main office or via email to our registrar Lynn Rodgers at by Friday, October 15th.

We are having an issue with students loitering on campus after the school day. Please note that the campus closes for students at 2:30 each day. After 2:30, students must be with a coach, adult advisor for a club or group, teacher, or in the Evening Academy. Students should not loiter around campus in unsupervised locations and are not permitted to remain in the building unless they are with a teacher or coach. Parents and students, I thank you for your assistance with this matter.

Finally, next Monday, October 18th is a required teacher workday and report cards will be distributed on Monday, October 25th.

Thank you for your continued support and for being Comets ALL In
