Weekly update for August 16th - 20th, 2021
First, any student taking courses through Johnston Community College is reminded that their classes begin tomorrow, Monday, August 16th. This applies to students taking classes on JCC’s campus as well as students taking online JCC classes. Please make sure you have logged into your JCC email for instructions from your instructor. Students with issues should contact the JCPS/JCC liaison Ms. Barretta Haynes at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Next, the 2020-2021 yearbook will be available for distribution this week. Class of 2020 and Class of 2021 members may pick theirs up or purchase them between 10:00 and 2:00 on Tuesday, August 17th from the new gym lobby. We will have additional pickup and purchase times from 10:00 - 2:00 on Wednesday for any other students. Following these dates, remaining books will be available for purchase or pickup from the CHS front office. Students and parents may contact Mr. Jeff Peake at email@example.com.
Students that were not able to purchase parking passes last week may do so this week from the front office beginning on Tuesday, August 17th. Schedules for all students are available in PowerSchool. If a student needs to request a change, they may complete the online form found on the CHS website.
Also on Tuesday, any student that has not had their original CHS student ID made may visit the CHS Media Center between 9:00 and 5:00 to have their ID done.
This week, we begin having athletic events on campus. Athletic Booster passes for both students and families will go on sell this week. Please contact our athletic director John Asmussen for information if you would like more information.
Finally, there will be two opportunities this week for you to be able to learn more information about our daily schedule, the first days of school, etc. On Monday evening, an informational video will be sent out to all students and parents via email and on our social media platforms. This video will guide students through the daily schedule, arrival and dismissal procedures, and other important information. Then on Wednesday, I will be hosting a Facebook Live event at 6:30 PM to share our school vision, answer questions, and address Frequently Asked Questions to make sure that everyone is prepared for the upcoming school year.
I am looking forward to a great year for all of our Comets. Please be sure to check our website and social media platforms frequently for updates and information. Let’s make it a fantastic year and together be COMETS ALL IN.
