CHS Weekly Update - 5/9/2021
This is Bennett Jones, principal of Clayton High School with the weekly update for the upcoming week, May 10th - 14th, 2021.
First, I want to wish all of our mothers and motherly figures in Comet Country a very Happy Mother’s Day.
Next, I want to thank our PTSA and all of the parents and students who showed so much appreciation for our teachers last week. We are so grateful for everything that our teachers and staff do for our students and school! Thank you also to everyone who assisted with setting up and donating items for the CHS prom on Friday. The weather held off and it was a great event for our students who were able to attend!
Next, we would like to welcome all junior parents and students to join the CHS student services department tomorrow night (Monday) at 6:30 in the Jeff Adams Gym for an informational session regarding everything that students need to know before their senior year. Information to be given includes information about summer programs, applying for scholarships and colleges, course registration during senior year, and standardized testing among other things. This in-person meeting will benefit all juniors in helping to plan what comes after before and after their graduation. The meeting will be recorded and posted on the student services website for those that are unable to attend.
CHS seniors should be on the lookout for information regarding graduation tomorrow in their emails. I will send a separate ConnectEd tomorrow night to seniors regarding these exciting end-of-year activities!
Next I want to advertise that our CHS parade will take place on Thursday, May 20th at 6:00 in downtown Clayton. We want all seniors and those that were scheduled to take part in the parade that was postponed in March to plan to participate in the parade. I also want to announce that we will be holding the annual CHS PowderPuff game on Thursday, May 20th after the parade. Signups for ladies interested in participating will take place this week - look out for information!
Students that have borrowed Chromebooks and/or Hotspots from the school need to make plans to return these items at the end of the school year. Devices will be needed for exams so returning these items are paramount. Please see the information at this link.
Finally, I want to encourage all of our students to finish the school year in strong fashion. There are only 2 weeks remaining before exams, so everyone needs to work hard and complete all of their assignments. Summer school information for those who may have missed out on academic course credits this year can be found on our website or directly from teachers.
Thank you as always for your continued support and for being Comets ALL IN, have a good evening and a great week!
