Weekly Update 4/11/2021

This is Bennett Jones, principal of Clayton High School with the weekly update for the upcoming week, April 12th - 16th, 2021.

First, I hope that you all had a relaxing and enjoyable Spring Break. Tomorrow, we are excited to return to school under the Plan A designation. As noted earlier, this means that students will not need to be screened upon arrival to school. However, we do ask that you make sure your student is not exhibiting any of the CoVid-19 symptoms and if they are, that they not attend school.

Students must wear their masks properly at all times with the exception of times when they are eating. Students should not congregate in hallways, restrooms, or common areas. The schedule will remain the same so students who have completed permission forms may be dismissed from campus at 12:30. The link to the permission form is Any students who do not leave at 12:30 must sign up for their ALL IN block location before 11:00 each day. They will remain in this location until the 2:10 dismissal bell.

Next, there are some important notes for traffic control and student drivers. Buses will continue to arrive and unload as they have. For drivers and carpool students, there is still a staggered arrival schedule between 7:05 and 7:55. Student drivers may not arrive on campus prior to 7:05. Beginning tomorrow, when student drivers arrive, seniors may use the entrance by Walgreens and the main entrance between the baseball and softball fields and park in the soccer and baseball lots. Juniors may continue to use the main entrance or rear entrance and may park in the softball lot. No student drivers may park in the big tennis court lot beginning tomorrow as that lot will be for buses in the afternoons.

Students who are not attending in-person should attend their online live sessions as they have throughout the semester. If a student is remaining on a hybrid schedule, they should attend the live sessions on their off-campus days and complete any assigned learning activities. Students should bring with them each day their own device or one that has been assigned to them.

Finally, it is important for everyone to be aware that following the protocols established for the safety of everyone is an unwavering expectation. I also remind all students about our high expectations for their behaviors and actions. If a student has symptoms or has tested positive, it should be reported to school staff immediately so that contact tracing can occur. If a student is identified as a close contact, they could be quarantined for up to 14 days. Working together, we can enjoy the remainder of the school year in a fun, safe, and effective learning environment.

Thank you as always for your continued support and for being Comets ALL IN, have a good evening and a great week!
