Update: January 11th - 15th, 2021

 January 11th - 15th, 2021

This week teachers will begin with live sessions to deliver course content. The sessions will be each day, except for Wednesday which will still be an asynchronous learning day. The time for the sessions each day will correspond with their block and the bell schedule that we utilized in the 2nd quarter. Detailed information can be found in the Spring Semester Guide. As a reminder, students should plan to attend their live sessions each day. Please note that changes may occur to teacher schedules as we finalize virtual-only sections for this semester and fill staff vacancies.

This week we will continue to have limited office hours and will not be open to the public for in-person meetings. The CHS office will be open from 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM for assistance, but please note that our building is not open for students or parents to come inside for things such as schedule changes. Email continues to be the best way to connect to teachers should there be communication issues. Likewise, email is the best mode of parent communication as well versus phone calls into the office for non-emergency questions. Students should check their email regularly throughout the day each day and are reminded to visit the CHS Remote Learning website for additional support and assistance.

A reminder that students who missed a state exam in December will be contacted this week to schedule their makeup exams beginning the week of January 19th.

Next, students are reminded that our expectations for their actions academically, behaviorally, and socially have not changed during remote learning. As such, students should be sure to be respectful in their communication with staff and with other students, especially including comments and posts on social media platforms. Parents, I encourage you to speak to your student regarding the acceptable use of technology and JCPS policies regarding student behavior. Our students are reminded that they represent our school and our community and as such, we will hold them accountable to our accepted standards of conduct.

Finally, the JCPS Board of Education will meet on Tuesday and will determine how school will continue after this week. Once this decision is made, we will follow up with specifics regarding how it impacts Clayton High School students later in the week.
