Athletes of the Week
9/9-9/13: Sarah Jon Adams
Sarah Jon was the most consistent server on the team over our first three games. She is focused on the court and is steadlity getting better. She works hard in practice and it shows in her game.. Since starting volleyball about six weeks ago, she has made amazing progress to go from beginner to starter. Congratulations to Sarah Jon!
9/16-9/20:Christian represents hard work and determination both on and off the field. Christian is always ready to face any change thrown his way. Christian always keeps a positive attitude and supports his team and classmates. Way to go, Christian, keep leading by example.
9/16-9/20: Isabella Bridges- She is in 8th grader who works very hard and well with her teammates during practice. She always shows school spirit on and off the field.
9/16-9/20: Bradley is a leader on the field and in the classroom. He is grown into a key part of the team His awesome performances are always highlighted with grit and determination to never let any play be lost and make the best of any situation. The defense revolves around his leadership and tenacity. He is a pleasure to work with and will continue to excel in the game and in the classroom.
9/23-9/27: Volleyball - Madison Carter is the athlete of the week. She is the captain of the volleyball team and has been the most consistent player so far through the season. She is a perfectionist and consistently tries to get better in every practice. Congratulations to eighth grader Madison Carter.
9/23-9/27: Boys Soccer - Johnson is constantly improving his play on the field and working hard to become a future leader of the BMS Phantoms. His attitude is a refresher even on the hardest days for his fellow teammates and coach. Johnson is always willing to put in the effort required to get any job or assignment done. We are lucky to have him as a representative of our team.
9/30-10/4:Averianna Wilson is a second year cheerleader and a 7th grader at BMS.Since the beginning of fall season I have seen improvement in Averianna. Averianna is always working hard and she never hesitates to ask for help. She always has a positive attitude and a great teammate and leader.
9/30-10/4:Brandon Esquivias-Sepulveda is a leader both in and outside of the classroom. Bradon always has a calm demeanor during stressful situations. Brandon works well with others and rises to every occasion when challenged. Brandon commits to learning in the classroom. Even when classroom content can become challenging, Brandon continues to ask questions and participate in classroom discussions to get the best understanding of the material. Brandon gives 100% in everything he does, and we are proud to have him on the Phantom football team. Way to go, Brandon, keep up the hard work!
10/7-10/11: Soccer - Javieon is one of the hardest working players on the field. He is constantly striving to get better and willing to take on any challenge that presents itself. His level of play will only get better and better.
10/7-10/11 Volleyball - Addison has not only stepped into the role of leadership as a captain, but has also helped to uplift her fellow team mates. Addison works diligently to improve herself and all those around her. Very proud of her performance.
10/14-10/17: Kevin Caldwell is a hard worker both inside and outside of the classroom. Kevin has a pasitive outlook on all aspects of life. Kevin has worked very hard and is on track to make honor roll this 9 weeks. Kevin gives his all on every play. Kevin is ready to step up and fill any position when called on. He is a true leader amoungst his teammates and wears blue and gold proudly.
10/14-10/17: Kayanna Hasan is an eight grade student and this is her third year cheering on the BMS team. Kayanna is always willing to help her Cheer sister with cheers and choreography. She brings new cheers to teach the team frequently. This past week Kayanna stepped out of her comfort zone and displayed sportsmanship in stating “I’m going to do it for our team." Thank you Kayanna for your hardwork and dedication.
10/21-10/25: Brayden Collins - Brayden took initiative to lead his team in anyway possible. He worked hard leaving everything on the field after each game. Very proud of his effort and leadership.
10/21-10/25: Kenzie Adams- Kenzie stood out as a leader helping engage her fellow teammates each game! She never gave up and worked to make sure everyone played at their best!
12/2-12/6: Erykah Bowles has been a standout recently on the court during practice. She has never played basketball and constantly asks questions to improve her craft and takes what she learns into the games. When she plays, its controlled, aggressive and outstanding. Can't wait to see what the season holds for her!
12/2-12/6: Janiyah Sanders is a 7th grader and second year cheerleader on the BMS cheerleading team. She is a member of the Junior Beta Club and does excellent not only in academics but as a cheerleader. Janiyah is a great leader. She also takes the initiative to bring new cheers and routines to teach her teammate frequently.Overall Janiyah is a great student who always has a positive attitude and willing to help her teammates with one on one practice with cheers.
12/2-12/6: Bradley Mclean leads during each game/practice with purpose, heart, and compassion for his teammates as he pushes them to get better. These actions roll over into the classroom setting, resulting in high academic standings for self and other students who need help. Bradley is a starter and a compassionate leader on our Boys Basketball Team.
12/9-12/13: This is Ashley Mellenthin's second year playing basketball for BMS. This year is HER year. She understands the game, fights for the ball, her movements are scary for the other team, she plays a very calculated and smart game. She even came off the bench after being sick the other week and jumped right in to a position she isn’t used to playing just to help her team. Her passion for the team is contagious and we are very proud for you to a part of our team!
12/9-12/13: Leta Hardy is an 8th grade student and first time cheerleader member at BMS. She is a hard worker who brings new cheers and teach them to her fellow teammates with enthusiasm. Leta makes everyone around her happy. She has perfect attendance to practice and games since the beginning of cheer season. Her favorite cheer is "We want some Action" and you can hear her throughout the day cheering "A-C-T-I-O-N-we want some action come on we want some action".
12/9-12/13: Alex Carranza leads his team through example of dedication and all around effort in every practice setting. Through his hardwork and dedication Alex earned a starting spot in this weeks game. He continues to strive for success as an individual and as a teammate in supporting those around him. His drive for success also spill over into the classroom setting resulting in his academic success as an honor roll student!
12/16-12/20: Allison Barbour has been a stand out on the team for 2 years. She plays aggressive and halfway controlled. She has a yearning to always do better and is always trying to improve when she is at practice. Her passion for the game this year in infectious and her commentary on the sidelines are spot on. Keep doing you Allison!
12/16-12/20:Bailey has led his team each day at practice and games with 100% effort, heart, and tenacity. He has not only worked to push each athlete around him to get better, but to also push through adversity. Bailey eximplifies qualities of a successfull and wholistic leader.
1/6-1/10: India Redmond always makes everyone around her happy and spreads positivity. After tons of practice, it was never a moment India wasn't making the mood less stressful. She is a hardworking teammate who brings new cheers to team daily. She doesn't mind helping her teammates when they are having difficulty learning new cheers. Additionally, she is always willing to try new things and pumping her teammates up to keep going even if they are having difficulty with cheers.
1/6-1/10: Kenzie Adams has been stepping up as a leader on the team. She does a great job during practice of communicating with her scrimmage teams. During games, she sees her teams weaknesses and corrects them on the spot. She is hard on herself when she misses shots and continuously stays positive to try to better herself and her teammates on the court.
1/6-1/10: Holden Fowler works diligently each day to achieve success and step into the roll of a leader! He strives to push himself and others with each practice and game that passes! Very proud to announce Holden Fowler as our athlete of the week!
1/13-1/17: Kaylee Norris is an extremely hard worker. She is constantly asking questions to learn the sport and her position. She works tirelessly to improve every practice and game. Her work ethic is hard to beat. We are proud of you!
1/13-1/17: Bradley McDougald is a leader on his team offensively and defensively. He works tirelessly to insure that success is achieved and he always puts his teammates fist! Very thankful to have Bradley as a part of our team!!
1/13-1/17: Averiana Wilson has been a good sport this week. Shes always helpful, a great person to be around and keeps a positive attitude.
1/21-1/24: Lexi Chandler has stepped up immensely the last few games. She is learning that her attitude during practice and games dictates how the girls play as well. She is playing controlled, smart and rising to be a leader on the team.
1/21-1/24: Lane Chandler has worked hard this week, pushing to insure that everyone goes to extra mile to achieve success. Lane has taken extra time to help other athletes push through difficult situations and has been a positive light this week! Very proud of Lane!
1/27-1/31: Jaeda Norman is a latecomer to the team this year. We are elated that she decided to come back and join. Even though she has missed half of the season, she has jumped right in and learned the plays with ease. Jaeda is silent but violent on the court. We are proud of you Jaeda!
1/27-1:31: Sarah Heath has been very courageous. She has been improving and working hard every week. She is stepping up to the plate even when she wasn't asked. Her positive attitude radiates on the team.
1/27-1/31: Asa Bynum has completely pushed beyond all physical boundaries set before him, leading his team through practice and tough fought games. Asa has excelled as a guard this week with his ability to move the ball very controlled, and see the entire floor finding the open man. Very proud of Asa for his performance this week!
2/3-2/7: Ja’Zara Cox for always being consistent and reliable. She is the definition of a team player and does whatever is needed to help her team.
2/3-2/7: This is Evelyn Murphy's 1st year playing Basketball at BMS. She is constantly asking questions to better herself and others in her position. When she is in the game, she is always the first one down the court and hustling in every situation. Along with her giving Pegues a hard time every day at practice, she comes ready to improve and work hard at every single practice.
2/3-2/7: Robert Bailey has stepped up this week as a leader in a big way. Robert has taken the time each practice to ensure that all of his teammates understand the offensive and defensive schemes and rotations. Robert has also stepped up on the offense side of the ball and takes control of open lanes for scoring and distribution. Very proud of Robert for his hard work!
3/2-3/6 Boys Track: Alex embraced his role as a leader on the boys track team. He doesn't talk much, he lets his actions speak for him. He is very consistent and always willing to learn and grow. He helps the younger athletes develop their craft, this is what keeps him humble. He also represents himself well around the school.
3/2-3/6 Girls Track: Rory Denton is a huge asset to her team. We were down a person at our first meet for a relay race and she volunteered to step up and run. She helped the relay win 1st place overall. She always demonstrates leadership and positivity. She is a huge help and great student to coach.
3/2-3/6 Girls Soccer: LilyAnn Whitman has taken the initiative each day to vocaly incourage each of her teammates both during practice and game setting! She works tirelessly to insure that she is successfull and is a great representation of our Phantoms Girls Soccer Team!
3/2-3/6 Baseball: Landon Dudley was a leader for his team this week at practices and our game. He sets a good example for his teammates not only on the field but in the classroom as well. At our game he led the team in both hits and RBI’s while also stealing a base and only allowing one run while pitching.
3/2-3/6 Softball: Allison Barbour shows great leadership on and off the field. She is a hard worker and is always trying to improve her skills.
3/9-3/13 Boys Track: Aiden Blair- Aidan has been one of the most consistent workers on the team since the first day of practice. This is his first year doing sports, he is taking it very seriously and not wasting the opportunity. Aidan is asking all the right questions during practice to become a better athlete. He is becoming a silent leader.
3/9-3/13 Baseball: Asa Bynum - Asa is one of his teams leaders and always has a positive influence. He is asked to play multiple positions and works hard to be the best he can be at each.
3/9-3/13 Girls Soccer: Valery Rosales - Valery has been shining as a vocal team leader this week on the defensive side of the ball. She has vocally pushed and supported each of her teammates during drills, and scrimmages. She has earned Player of the Week through hard work, and support of her teammates!
3/9-3/13 Softball: Jordan Maples -She gives 110% on the field and tries her best at new things. I can not wait to watch her grow and improve her skills.
3/9-3/13 Girls Track: Brittany Badgett - Brittany is the definition of hard-working. She consistently gives her best effort at both practices and meets. She asks for feedback and ways to improve. If she is needed she will step up and help the team. She is an excellent leader and does a wonderful job cheering on her team!
