Smithfield Middle School AVID Student Awarded Victor E. Bell, Jr. Scholarships from College Foundation, Inc.
Local Student Awarded a Scholarship Worth Up to $20,000 for Her Future Education Smithfield, N.C. โ (Winter 2021) โ Smithfield Middle School AVID student, Valery Davis Mendoza, is one of several promising North Carolina seventh graders who have been named as recipients of the Victor E. Bell, Jr. Scholarship.

2020 SMS Spelling Bee Champion!
Taja Session won the schoolwide spelling bee at Smithfield Middle against spellers in all three grade levels! She will go on to represent the Knights at the JOCO Spelling Bee!

Leading with the Heart Recipient
Congratulations to Sarah Anderson, Smithfield Middle's JCPS Leading with the Heart honoree! Ms. Anderson was chosen by her colleagues for going above and beyond in and outside of the classroom. We admire Ms. Anderson's leadership, compassion, and heart on a daily basis. She is constantly looking for ways to help others and to show her dedication to the profession! We appreciate you!

Mrs. Stephanie Worley has been recognized as a JCPS Employee of the Year Finalist
Stephanie Worley, Smithfield Middle's media specialist, has been recognized as a JCPS Employee of the Year Finalist. She has been a media specialist in Johnston County Public Schools since 2005 and is in her fourth year at Smithfield Middle School. Ms. Worley began her teaching career in 1996 as a kindergarten and first grade teacher and became certified in Reading and Academically Gifted. In 2009 she completed the Masters of Library Science at East Carolina University. She is married with two boys.

Smithfield Middle School Administrators Surprise Staff
The administrators of Smithfield Middle School surprised staff members at their homes for Staff Appreciation Week. Staff Appreciation Week is May 4, 2020 - May 8, 2020. Teachers and staff recieved special packages with fun gifts. Ms. LaShunda Faison (Principal), Ms. Angel Shepherd (Assistant Principal) and Mr. Thomas Callon (Assistant Principal) are shown here making a delivery to the home of Mr. Massey.

Smithfield Middle School Spelling Bee
Congratulations to the following students who participated in the Smithfield Middle school-wide spelling bee: 6th graders: (Aidyn Capps, Justin Artirp, and Tiease Edgerton) 7th grader: (Gavin Nguyen) 8th Graders: (Dalvin Richardson, Tyriq Glenn, and Omarii Bethea). This year's words were especially challenging. Eighth grader, Dalvin Richardson, will represent Smithfield Middle on February 27th at the Johnson County Bee.
