  • Lady Jaguars Give Back to Their Community

    On Saturday, September 24th, the North Johnston Middle School volleyball players and cheerleaders volunteered at a local car wash hosted by Girl Scout Troop #4160. All the earnings from the car wash will go back to the Angel Tree Fund at Glendale Kenly Elementary, Micro Elementary, and North Johnston Middle School. This was a great opportunity for our Lady Jaguars to give back to their community.

  • NJMS Baseball Team Volunteers at Miracle League of Johnston County

    The NJMS Baseball Team members and Coach Chris Creech volunteered at the Miracle League of Johnston County on Saturday, April 23rd. Team members enjoyed their morning assisting student athletes from Johnston County.

  • NJMS Inducts New Members to the National Junior Honor Society

    The NJMS Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society recently held its induction ceremony on Tuesday, March 22nd.  New and current members were both recognized this year since we were not able to have a formal ceremony last year due to Covid.  A reception for students and their families was held in the cafeteria immediately following.  We are proud of these students and their accomplishments! We would also like to congratulate advisors, Mrs. Stephanie Caviness and Mrs. Poconna Cuddington for a job well done. Great job, Jaguar Scholars!

  • NJMS FFA Members Participate in North Carolina Middle Grades Rally!

    Five of our NJMS FFA members traveled to Greensboro on Friday, March 4, to compete in the North Carolina Middle Grades FFA Rally. These students participated in contests against other middle school FFA members from across the state. Quiz Bowl team members included Savannah Keen, Jordyn Chapin, Colby Johnson, and Cameron Casey. Peyton Ford participated in the Prepared Public Speaking Contest. Congratulations to these students for their hard work and for representing North Johnston Middle well!

  • NJMS Battle of the Books Team Places Second at County Competition!

    Congratulations to our Battle of the Books team for coming in SECOND PLACE at the county competition! The competition was held on Friday, February 25th. This is the highest any team from NJMS has ever scored! We are so proud of these Jaguar readers!!!

  • Eighth Grader Savanna Higgins Wins School-Wide Spelling Bee

    Congratulations to eighth grade student, Savanna Higgins for winning this year's school-wide Spelling Bee.  The event was held on Thursday, January 27th in the cafeteria.  Our first runner-up was sixth grader, Preston Thompson.   Savanna will advance to the district-wide Spelling Bee soon.  We know she will represent us well!  Congratulations to both of you for a job well done!

  • Jaguar Athletic Program Donates 167 Toys to KAM through Toy Drive!

    Our Jaguars athletic program recently held a Toy Drive at the NJMS vs. Four Oaks basketball game on Thursday, December 16th. All attendees were invited to donate a new, unwrapped toy to gain free admission into the game. We were able to donate 167 toys to Kenly Area Ministries, a local charity. Thank you to EVERYONE who helped contribute. These toys will be a blessing to many children in our community!

  • NJMS Students Participate in FFA Livestock Judging Contest

    Four NJMS FFA members traveled to Raleigh on Wednesday, December 1st to compete in the North Carolina FFA Livestock Judging Contest. We would like to congratulate them as they placed 13th out of 82 teams! The team consisted of Kaylee Pittman, Peyton Ford, Sebastian Wheeler and Colby Johnson. Kaylee Pittman was the team's highest scoring individual, as she placed 30th out of 270 participants. Congratulations to these FFA members for their hard work and a job well done!

  • NJMS National Junior Honor Society and FFA Chapters Conduct Food Drive

    On the week of November 15-19, our yearly food drive was conducted by our National Junior Honor Society and FFA chapters. Students were challenged by grade level to bring in the most cans in order to win an extra day of intramurals. The grand total of items collected was 1,467. Here is the breakdown by grade level: 6th: 399 items 7th: 367 items 8th: 701 items All donations were given to Kenly Area Ministries and Hinnant Outreach Center in Micro. We are proud of our Jaguar students for showing such generosity during the Thanksgiving season.   • Ms. Edwards' Ag Classes Hatch Chicks

    Ms. Edwards' Agricultural Science classes recently participated in a classroom embryology project. Students were able to see first hand the process of incubating, hatching, and raising chicks. Mrs. Meredith Wood, with the Johnston County Cooperative Extension Service and 4-H came to Ms. Edwards' classroom to discuss with 8th grade students the chick hatching process, parts of the egg, and ways for students to be involved with 4-H opportunities in Johnston County. All of Ms. Edwards' had a great time learning about the chicks and participating in this project over the past month.

  • Digital Citizenship Week Poster Contest Winners

    NJMS recently held a poster contest during Digital Citizenship week. The theme was "Jaguars: Be Kind Online!" Winners were awarded a certificate and a sweet treat!

  • NJMS Hosts Fall Family Night

    On Tuesday 10/5, NJM hosted our Fall Family Night. We had approximately 340 guests attend the event. Families traveled to various classrooms and completed fun activities to show off what students have been learning this nine weeks. Guests were even treated to popcorn and drinks in the cafeteria. The night was a huge success!

  • Mr. Billy Hinton - April Classified Employee of the Month

    Congratulations to Mr. Billy Hinton on being selected as our April Classified Employee of the Month. As a custodian and long time member of the Jaguar family, Mr. Billy works hard to keep our school building clean and looking great. He has had a lot of extra jobs added to his plate this year as a result of Covid, but he has pushed through and done a great job assisting students and other staff members in need. He is definitely reliable and hard working! Thanks for what you do Mr. Billy!
