Newly elected Board of Education members sworn into office
Two newly elected members of the Johnston County Board of Education were sworn into office on Monday, Dec. 3 at the Johnston County Courthouse in Smithfield.
Terri Sessoms and Tracie Zukowski were sworn in at the Oath of Office Ceremony in the Historic Superior Courtroom. Both members were accompanied by members of their families at the ceremony.
Sessoms was sworn in by Town of Benson Mayor Jerry Medlin.
“I pledge that I will work with and for the people of Johnston County to do what is best for our children, employees, and our school system, ” said Sessoms. “Because when we take care of our children we’re taking care of our communities.”
Zukowski was sworn in by Johnston County Clerk of Superior Court Michelle Ball.
“I’m very honored that the citizens of Johnston County have put me in this seat,” said Zukowski. “I look forward to working with the school board members and the county commissioners to make our schools better and our communities a better place to live.”
Board of Education member Todd Sutton was unable to attend Monday’s ceremony and will take his Oath of Office on Friday, Dec. 7th at 11:30 a.m. at the Johnston County Courthouse.
