JCPS opened Swift Creek Elementary in Fall 2025, and will open Wilson’s Mills High in Fall 2026. In addition to drawing boundary lines for the new schools, the JCPS assignment plan will continue to implement boundary adjustments designed to better balance school crowding across the district.

The assignment plan is in the second phase of implementation, and assignment changes for the 2026-2027 school year will be largely related to the opening of the new Wilson's Mills High School and will directly impact rising 9th and 10th-grade students. The plan calls for an additional grade level to be added at Wilson's Mills High each year, with all grades, 9th-12th being offered during the 2028 school year.
