This year, instead of issuing individual Chromebooks to students, we will be providing each classroom teacher with Chromebooks for use within their classrooms. This new protocol helps protect our devices by eliminating the need for students to transport them throughout the building or back and forth between home and school.

For evening practice, teachers will assign activities that do not require an electronic device, ensuring that learning can continue without the need for Chromebooks at home.

Students enrolled in AP or college-level courses who require a Chromebook for home use should visit the library to discuss their individual needs.

Completion of required JCPS Digital Forms:

All JCPS students and their parent or legal guardian must submit the following three digital forms in order to use school-issued technology.

Student/Parent Technology Use and Digital Citizenship Agreement
Parent/Guardian Verification Form
Publication Permission Form
Device Condition:

Each student will be assigned a specific Chromebook for use in their assigned teacher’s classroom. These devices are not to be removed from the classroom. Students should inspect the Chromebook upon first use and immediately report any damage or issues to the teacher. If any damage is not reported to school staff within the first 5 minutes of classroom use, the student/parent will be held responsible for those damages.

In the event of damage to a Chromebook while it is in your student’s care, please contact matttrue@johnston.k12.nc.us immediately.

If a student damages, loses, or destroys a JCPS Chromebook, the parent/student is responsible for the cost of repair or replacement. Below is a list of potential damages and losses. If additional damage occurs that isn’t listed, a JCPS technician can assess the situation and provide a quote for repairs. Payments for damages should be made directly to the school, either by exact cash, check, or online payment.
