Hello Wildcat Students and Families! It is with great honor and excitement that I serve as the principal of West Johnston High School. I am grateful to join a school community with a rich tradition of excellence, tremendous pride, and unwavering commitment to preparing students for success beyond high school. I look forward to partnering with our great students, dedicated and outstanding staff, supportive families, and community members as we continue building upon the strong foundation that makes West Johnston such a special place.

As an educator in JCPS for over 25 years, I firmly believe every student deserves to be known, valued, challenged, and inspired. My passion is creating a school culture where students are encouraged to discover their strengths, pursue their goals, and develop the confidence to thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and personally. I believe that positive relationships, high expectations, and rich and rigorous teaching and learning experiences are the cornerstones of student success.

Throughout my career, I have remained committed to four core leadership values:

  • High Expectations and Achievement for All – We believe that every student has the ability to learn, grow, and succeed when supported by caring adults who believe in them. We will insist that students become the best they can possibly be.

  • Excellence in Service – We will serve our students and families with professionalism, kindness, and a commitment to excellence.

  • Collaboration – Our greatest successes come when educators, families, students, and community partners work together toward a common purpose to educate our students in preparing them for the careers and the world of work.

  • Respect and Kindness – We will work to foster a positive school culture where every individual is served with dignity, respect, and kindness.

My vision is to cultivate a high-performing school where every student is empowered to achieve at the highest levels through rigorous instruction, meaningful relationships, and a safe, inclusive environment that promotes continuous growth and achievement with our students.

We will serve to always do what is best for students.

As Wildcats, we proudly embrace our school motto, "On the Prowl With Excellence." Excellence is not a destination, it is a daily commitment! It is reflected in our classrooms, our extracurricular activities, and our overall service to students, families, our great community.

My goal is for every student who graduates from West Johnston High School to leave not only academically prepared for college, career, or military service, but also equipped with the character, resilience, leadership, and confidence necessary to make a positive impact in the world.

I am incredibly honored to serve the West Johnston community and look forward to serving our exceptional staff, students, families, and community partners as we continue creating opportunities for every Wildcat to learn, lead, and succeed!

When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my husband Thurmond, our two children TJ and Trinity, and our dog Ollie. I also enjoy music, cooking, reading, and DIY projects in my spare time.

Hello Wildcats! I am excited about serving West Johnston High as one of your assistant principals. This is my twenty-seventh year in education and my sixth year as a school administrator for Johnston County Public Schools (JCPS). Before coming to JCPS, I spent six years as an assistant principal in Wake County Public Schools (WCPS).

I began my teaching career as a lateral entry Special Education, Algebra teacher. I then transitioned to Health and Physical Education, where I had many roles in coaching multiple varsity volleyball and basketball programs across the state. During my tenure in the classroom, I received my Master of Science in Physical Education, National Board Teaching Certification, and the high school Healthful Living Teacher of the Year for WCPS.

While in the classroom and as an Intervention Coordinator, I realized I wanted to have more of a school-wide impact, so I decided to become a school administrator. I received my Master of Science in School Administration and Master of Science in Curriculum & Instruction from Emporia State University.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my daughter, attending sporting events, reading, traveling, and working out. I’m grateful I get to serve the West Johnston Community. Go Wildcats!

Hello, I am excited to serve as an assistant principal at West Johnston High School. I have been an educational leader in the Johnston County Public Schools System and lived in the West Johnston community for twenty-two years. This is home!

I began teaching in Johnston County after graduating Cum Laude from East Carolina University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.  As a first-year teacher, I planned my wedding to my Clayton High School sweetheart, Christian, and somehow managed to be my school's first-year teacher of the year nominee. We welcomed our son, Aaron, into the world in 2006, now a senior at West Johnston High.

I am honored to have earned many recognitions and awards as a teacher, such as Flame for Learning. I have participated in many leadership roles and earned licensure add-ons and National Board Certification. These leadership opportunities developed a desire to step out of the classroom teacher role and into the role of a school administrator.  I have made it a priority to be informed about relative and innovative educational practices and procedures. I earned a Master of School Administration from East Carolina University in May 2023.

I am prepared to be a school leader that makes a difference and positively impacts students, staff, community members, and families. I enjoy spending time with my family in my free time, especially traveling to National Parks.
