Hello, West Clayton Bulldogs!

My name is Sarah Willoughby, and I am honored to be the Principal at West Clayton. My husband, Jason, and I live in Princeton with three of our four children: Noah, Jack, and Luke. Rebecca, our oldest, has followed in our footsteps and has completed her second year of teaching.

I attended East Carolina University as a North Carolina Teaching Fellow. After graduating in 2003, I began my teaching career in Duplin County at B. F. Grady Elementary School. After two years in Duplin County, I moved to Wayne County, where I taught at Carver and Rosewood Elementary Schools. Throughout my career, I have taught various grades and subjects, including third through eighth-grade remediation, kindergarten, third grade, and fourth grade, and I have also served as a Curriculum Coach.

In 2015, I earned my Master's in School Administration from East Carolina University. This is my eighth year at West Clayton, and I know it will be another AMAZING year!

My name is Marissa Saxon, and I’m thrilled to join the Bulldog family! I began my teaching career in 2018 through Teach For America, which led me to Lenoir County Public Schools. There, I taught 3rd grade at Northeast Elementary School. In 2020, my family and I moved to Durham, where I had the privilege of teaching both 5th and 2nd grade at Parkwood Elementary School.

I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina Upstate and recently completed my Master’s in School Administration at North Carolina State University in May 2025. I’m passionate about creating a love for learning and inspiring others to become lifelong learners.

My husband, Jarrett, and I live in Clayton with our two children, Landon and Noa. Our son, Landon, will be a 5th grader at West Clayton this school year!

It is truly an honor to serve the community I call home, and I can’t wait to see all the amazing things this school year will bring.
