Freshman Academy
Proud Home of the Spartans
Freshman Academy at SSS was established in 2009 and was designed to ease the transition to high school, help freshmen progress through the 9th grade year, and on to graduation. Early intervention and constant monitoring are key factors that attribute to the success of the academy. Freshmen level classes are concentrated in one portion of the building. An administrator exclusively serves 9th graders and is also located in the Academy area and a team of core teachers serves as the Freshman Academy team. Through collaboration, the administrator and teachers will provide a variety of educational opportunities, learning experiences, and instructional support that are personal to the diversity of today’s learner!
Our Vision
To encourage freshmen to actively engage in the development of student voice and educational choice that generates learning that is “personal” to their academic future and civic participation.
Our Mission
To nurture and prepare our freshmen in successfully navigating their way through the total high school experience and rise to the challenges of becoming lifelong learners and productive members of our community.
