What is Student Leadership Team?

Student Leadership Team is a group of students who work closely together, with school leadership, to improve their school and community.

SLT Membership

The program consists of eight-ten 5th grade representatives, who begin at the end of September. In December, we welcome six to eight 4th grade representatives and in February we welcome four 3rd grade representatives. In order to become a member, students must fill out an application and sit for an interview. Afterwards, students are voted onto leadership by a group of their peers, in a process that is completely anonymous. This process is paramount, as we strive to provide fair opportunities for all students.

Student Leadership Team members meet monthly with the IB Coordinator to coordinate both school and community initiatives. Meetings take place during school hours and are organized with grade level teachers.

In order to be a member of the Student Leadership Program, a student must:

  • Be a good role model

  • Demonstrate leadership qualities both inside and outside of the classroom

  • Must follow and maintain behavioral expectations

  • Maintain good attendance

  • Exemplify the attributes of the learner profile

School Initiatives that students will assist with (but not limited to) are……

  • Morning Crew (greeters, hold doors, monitor hallways, assist front office, walk new students to class, maintain lost and found)

  • Carpool Arrival & Dismissal (Safety Patrol)

  • Dolphin of the Month Assistants

  • School Event Ambassadors (IB Student Ambassadors)

  • School Improvement Team Attendance/Honorary Membership

  • 2-3 School Action Projects (Team up with community partnership)
