Welcome to South Smithfield Elementary, where it is great to be a Dolphin...a place where children love to learn and teachers love to teach! It is a pleasure to serve as principal of this true community school and I look forward to working with the staff, students, parents and community for the betterment of all students.

At SSE, all students will be provided with the skills to learn, to achieve and to be lifelong learners. Our dedicated faculty of teachers and support staff models their love of learning each and every day as they ensure that each child who enters the building has a successful, nurturing and positive learning experience. We work together as a team to create success.

Welcome Dolphins!

I am so excited and proud to be your Assistant Principal for the new school year. My name is Tamara Brock and I feel privileged and extremely grateful to be a part of the South Smithfield Elementary school community.  I am looking forward to inspiring and empowering students to be the best that they can be. I am very passionate about my job and most of all, I am thrilled to be a Dolphin. 

I am a native of Montego Bay, Jamaica. I take great pride in molding students into being lifelong learners.  I earned my undergraduate studies in Elementary Education at Northern Caribbean University and earned my Master’s Degree in Education from Elon University. Most of my educational journey with JCPS was spent at West Smithfield Elementary, where I taught third, fourth and fifth grades. I also worked as a third and fourth grade teacher at Powhatan Elementary.  In addition, I also earned my Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership at Gardner-Webb University. I have been an educator for twenty five years. I am devoted to helping all students and staff at South Smithfield reach their fullest potential by being an effective instructional leader. I am committed to working with all stakeholders as we continue to create learners who achieve and strive for success. I am looking forward to a phenomenal year filled with building positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the community.
