Ms. Maritza Rosado, Principal

Welcome to Selma Elementary, home of the Yellow Jackets. My name is Maritza Rosado.  It is with great anticipation and excitement that I welcome you to the 2023-24 school year.  I am honored and humbled to begin my sixth year leading a school with such a strong tradition of commitment to our students and the community!

Our goal at Selma Elementary is to provide our students with academic experiences that are engaging and will help them develop the academic and social skills they will need to be successful.  A focus on literacy, dual language immersion, social-emotional learning, and college preparation through our AVID program will be among the drivers to help us achieve this mission.

As your Principal, it is important to me that everyone is excited about being a student at Selma Elementary. Working together as a partnership of educators, families, and community members will provide our students with an environment of academic excellence and high expectations.  Only together will we get to the heart of learning!

My door is always open and I welcome your input.  I look forward to working with our families and the community as a team to help each student at Selma Elementary meet their goals, be their best, and have a successful school year!  Together we are #SSStrong!

Ms. Terry Parker, Assistant Principal

I am excited to begin my 26th year in education as one the assistant principals for the 2nd year at Selma Elementary and I am pleased to welcome you back to the 2022-2023 school year. It is truly a privilege to be a part of a school community where staff members strive to build positive relationships with students and families in order to support the academic and social-emotional growth of our students.

Selma Elementary provides quality instruction to increase academic achievement for all children, preparing them to compete as responsible and productive citizens in the 21st century. We meet the needs of all children by providing challenging curriculum-based opportunities through the use of multiple instructional strategies. Equipped with highly effective staff, each classroom is an accepting, learning-centered environment where student achievement is measured in a variety of developmentally appropriate ways. Our environment fosters independent thinkers and promotes a culture of safety and respect. All members of the community work to build positive, working relationships to support student success in a global society.

One of my greatest desires is to provide leadership that will facilitate a school where students excel and teachers thrive. I believe it is imperative that we prepare and motivate our students for a rapidly changing world by providing targeted, customized, and standards-based instruction, extracurricular activities, and character education. We must encourage a strong work ethic, a sense of ownership, critical thinking skills, and a global perspective that embraces the core values of respect, responsibility, honesty, loyalty, and perseverance.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve your families. I look forward to collaborating with the parents, students, faculty, and community stakeholders as we cultivate a positive and meaningful learning community to ensure the academic, social, and emotional success of our students. Student success is attributed to the partnership and relationships we build within our community and I greatly appreciate the support you provide for your children at home and at school to help them meet their learning goals.

Mrs. Shannon Snipes, Assistant Principal

Selma Families, I am very excited and humbled to have the opportunity to work with you and your child and continue making great things happen at Selma Elementary School.  I have been in education for the last 18 years in many capacities. I have worked as a Instructional Assistant/Bus Driver, Teacher and Administrator.  You may remember that I started out teaching, right here at Selma Elementary and then Selma Middle School.  I feel like I am back home and in the community I love.

Family is a priority to me. I have a wonderful husband, Jamey and two great children, Kayla and Gracie. We enjoy spending as much time “playing” as possible; fishing enjoying the beach, chasing down golf balls or playing corn hole..

I would like to meet each and every one of you. My door is always open. I encourage you to stop by and say hello. As one of your school leaders my goal is to be supportive, nurturing, and informative to you and your child. I have high expectations for myself, staff, and students. Together, we can accomplish great things! I look forward to working closely with each of you, serving to ensure a school-home partnership.  As always, I am humbled to have this opportunity to serve as your child’s Assistant Principal.  I am excited for a great school year!
