StudentAccess
What is StudentAccess?
StudentAccess is a partnership between Johnston County Public Schools and the Public Library of Johnston County to provide students with books and other resources available through the public library.
What are some benefits of StudentAccess?
It gives students the ability to check-out ebooks or physical books from the public library expanding the number of materials available to our students.
The ebook option gives students the ability to check-out books during the summer without physically visiting the library. (Bridging the summer reading gap - this is a way to reach students who do not have transportation).
NC Kids Digital Library - created in response to Read to Achieve
More than $600,000 has been spent to create this resource for NC students
Includes ebooks and audiobooks as well as Battle of the Books titles.
NC Live databases
Teachers have access to all of the resources; many books/ ebooks have Lexile levels, etc. so teachers can help students find reading materials
Language learning programs
How will Student Access work?
Students will not receive a physical card.
Student ID numbers will be used for check-outs along with a PIN number which will be the last four-digits of student ID numbers.
If students already have a physical library card, StudentAccess does not take its place and students should choose one or the other to use.
Students would have two cards (one with regular library restrictions, one with the access level determined by JCPS)
No late fees. Only lost and damaged fees.
Media specialists will be able to reset student passwords (PIN)
