NC Career and college promise

The CCP program is an educational opportunity for qualified North Carolina high school students to begin preparing for their career and/or the completion of college credits.  Students can take courses in the area oc Career and Technical Education Pathways (CTE) which lead to a certificate, diploma, or degree or students can complete courses in the College Transfer (CT) pathway.  

Eligible juniors and seniors may participate in CCP College Transfer Pathways and CCP Career and Technical Education Pathways

To be eligible for enrollment, the student must have:

  • Rising junior or senior status
    AND

  • Minimum grade/readiness requirements:

    • 2.8/+ unweighted high school GPA
      OR

    • Demonstrate readiness on approved assessments in English, Reading, and Math (view benchmarks)

Juniors and seniors not meeting the above criteria may participate in CCP Career and Technical Education Pathways that do not include any UGETC courses. 

To be eligible for enrollment, the 9th/10th grade student must have:

  • Recommendation of the High School Principal and their rationale for recommendation in place of GPA requirement (assessment scores should be considered)   
    AND

  • Recommendation of the College's Chief Academic Officer   
    AND

  • Minimum grade/readiness requirements:

    • C/+ in Math I   AND   3/+ Math I EOC score   AND   3/+ (8th grade) ELA EOG score
      OR

    • Demonstrate readiness on approved assessments in English, Reading, and Math (view benchmarks)

CCP CTE Pathways available to eligible freshmen and sophomores are:

Accounting and Finance
Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Technology
Applied Engineering Technology
 (except Fluid Power Cert.)
Business Administration
Computer-Integrated Machining Technology
Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technology
Medical Office Administration
Welding Technology

Requirements for Career and Technical Courses:

1. Must be a junior or senior
2. enrolled in at least one high school course
3. Weighted GPA of 3.0 or principal's recommendation if GPA is between
    2.5 and 3.0
4. Meet eligibility scores on one of the required assessments (ACT, SAT,
    PLAN, PSAT, or Accuplacer)---not all Career and Technical courses require
    assessment score.
5. Meet the pre-requisites for courses in career pathway.
