I was born and raised in Pine Level, NC.  I graduated from North Johnston High School in 1992.  After graduation, I was paralyzed in an automobile accident just 9 days afterwards.  I spent the summer in the hospital, and then enrolled at NC State University just 6 days after getting out of the hospital. While at NC State, I was a member of Delta Sigma Phi social fraternity and Omega Pi honors fraternity.  I was also a member of the NC State Crew (rowing) team, where I was the coxswain for the Women's Varsity 4 team.  Finally, I was a statistician/manager for the NC State Men's Basketball team.  I graduated from NC State in May of 1997 with a BS in Secondary Math Education.  In December of 2008, I received my Master's Degree in Secondary Math Education from Campbell University.

I am starting my third year as the Student Advocate at North Johnston High School. I am also the Men's and Women's Tennis Coach.

Previously, I worked with a mental health agency in Raleigh providing intensive in home therapy. I graduated from East Carolina University with my Bachelors and Masters in Social work, also received my school social work licenses this past year.  As a School Social Worker I serve as a vital link between the home, the school, and the community. My mission as a School Social Worker is to alleviate barriers for students so they can be successful in school. I work with students and families for many different reasons. Several of these include: attendance concerns, family dysfunction, substance abuse, child abuse/neglect, life-threatening behaviors, economic deprivation, inadequate health care and lack of understanding of school policies and procedures. As a school social worker, I am also able to link community resources to students and families, and make arrangement with families and/or home visits to ensure each student and family have what is needed to be successful in school.

Let me know if you need anything else!
