Hello Patriot Families! I'm so thankful to be serving the staff and students of MCES for the third year. The sense of belonging and feeling of family resonates throughout our school and Community.
Here is a little about me. I am originally from Washington County, specifically a little town called Creswell. Most people haven't heard of it, so I tend to say I'm about 45 minutes away from the Outer Banks and then people know which direction I mean. I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Campbell University, which is how I ended up in Johnston County. My family consists of my husband, my son in seventh grade and my daughter in fifth grade. In our spare time, both of our children keep us busy by playing sports year round. We are huge fans of the Carolina Tarheels and the Atlanta Braves.
Throughout my career, I have taught elementary music in Johnston County and in Wilmington. I have also taught middle school music in Florida. When we returned to Johnston County, I taught 4th & 5th Grade math and served as a Testing Coordinator. I received my Master of School Administration through the N.C. Fellows Program at East Carolina University. Since becoming an administrator, I was an Assistant Principal at Cooper Academy for one year and then at Riverwood Elementary School for four years.
It's a beautiful thing when a passion and a career come together. I never become numb to the fact that we have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of the children we serve each and every day . . . it is truly humbling to know that we have the ability to transform lives. My goal every single day is to make sure students feel loved, supported and safe.
